Editorial policy
Our standards for verification, corrections, and transparency.
AskExperts Journal is committed to accurate, independent journalism. These are the standards we hold ourselves to.
Verification
Every named specialist quoted in our articles is verified against their relevant professional register — the General Medical Council, the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Bar Standards Board, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Financial Conduct Authority, and the equivalent bodies for the trades. Where a specialist's work is cited rather than directly quoted, the citation is independently checked against the source.
Corrections
If we publish a factual error, we correct it promptly. A correction notice is added to the bottom of the affected article and the page is re-timestamped. We do not quietly edit articles after publication. Substantive corrections are logged publicly.
Sources
We prefer named sources. When a contributor requests anonymity — which is rare — we require our editorial lead to know their identity and verify their credentials before approval. Anonymous sources are labelled as such and their motivation for anonymity is explained to the reader.
Conflicts of interest
Writers and editors declare any personal, financial or professional interest that could affect their reporting. Where a conflict cannot be avoided, the article discloses it. No writer covers an organisation in which they hold a material financial interest.
Advertising and sponsorship
We do not accept sponsored editorial. If we ever run commercial content, it will be clearly labelled as such and kept visually distinct from editorial. Outbound links to parties that could commercially benefit carry a rel="nofollow" attribute.
Complaints
If you believe we have fallen short of these standards, write to our editorial lead at [email protected]. We aim to respond within three working days.
